Northern Humboldt Union High School District’s 2026-27 budget projects a $2.136 million decline in its fund balance, according to a financial statement included in the district’s Sept. 8 board packet.
The statement, dated July 31, projects $33,557,790 in revenue and $35,640,097 in expenditures. After other financing sources and uses, the projected net change in fund balance is negative $2,136,159.
The statement projects an ending balance of $6,303,215 and a special-reserve balance of $1,380,811, for a combined general-fund and special-reserve balance of $8,520,574.
The packet scheduled board action on the district’s 2025-26 unaudited actuals and on Resolution 2/2026-27, which concerns the district’s annual GANN appropriations limit. The agenda materials do not include final Sept. 8 votes or establish whether the projected figures were adopted.
The documents also do not explain the main reasons for the projected gap or identify planned program reductions. The projection is therefore a budget forecast, not evidence on its own of an adopted deficit or imminent cuts.
