Yuba City’s Sept. 1 council packet sets up a proposed $176,128.69 replacement of the Fire Station No. 2 alerting system, pairing the work with radio integration and a budget transfer to cover the cost.
According to the staff report, the current alerting system is at the end of its useful life, parts are difficult to find and a failure could leave the station without alerting capability. Staff says the project would modernize fire-station alerting, improve dispatch efficiency and support firefighter health and safety by reducing nighttime disruption.
The packet recommends awarding a $141,455.99 cooperative purchase to US Digital Designs, Inc. by Honeywell through National Purchasing Partners Contract No. PS20350, along with an $18,661 contract for Sutter Buttes Communications, Inc. for radio integration and related work. The report also calls for a $27,933.64 transfer from the Fire Station Repair and Renovation account to the Fire Station No. 2 Remodel account to fully fund the project.
Staff further recommends a CEQA Class I categorical exemption, describing the work as a minor alteration to an existing public structure with no expansion of use. The resolution would authorize the Public Works director to execute the agreements and approve change orders within contingency limits.
The item is one of several fire, public works and land-use actions on the Sept. 1 agenda. The packet also includes subdivision and rezone items, a police vehicle purchase, firefighter labor side letters, a water tank rehabilitation project and an emergency capital acquisition report.
