Shasta County has amended its consulting agreement with Health Management Associates to support California’s CalAIM Path 3 Justice Involved reentry initiative, adding $600,000 in compensation and extending the contract through Sept. 30, 2027, according to the signed third amendment.
The amendment raises the agreement’s maximum compensation, including renewal periods, to $2.28 million. The contract says Health Management Associates will be paid hourly only for services requested in writing in advance, and that there is no guaranteed minimum payment. Future-year payments also remain subject to appropriation by the Shasta County Board of Supervisors.
The expanded scope includes updated project and work plans, reviews of health, behavioral-health, social-service and revenue-cycle contracts, procurement support, additional training, billing and claims-management assistance, and ongoing technical support. The work is assigned across the Sheriff’s Office, Probation and Health and Human Services Agency Behavioral Health.
Under the amended scope, the consultant’s mock audit of CalAIM Justice Involved reentry components is due Jan. 31, 2027. A report summarizing the audit’s findings and recommending next steps is due March 31, 2027.
The agreement’s attachment estimates total costs for all deliverables at $2,227,250, allocated among the Sheriff’s Office, Probation and HHSA Behavioral Health. The amendment does not establish how much the county has already paid under the agreement or how much of the additional authorization will be drawn in the near term.
