Humboldt County planning commissioners are set to consider a zoning amendment Wednesday that would broaden where indoor cannabis cultivation can be located in the county’s inland areas.
According to the Sept. 17 Planning Commission agenda, staff is recommending adoption of a resolution that would amend the county’s Commercial Cannabis Indoor Cultivation provisions to allow the use in newly constructed non-residential buildings in AE, AG, FR and U zones. The current language limits indoor cultivation to buildings that were built before Jan. 1, 2016.
The agenda packet says the commission should forward the change to the Board of Supervisors for final consideration. It also references an addendum to the county’s environmental impact report for the amendment.
The proposed rewrite would affect inland zoning rules countywide, including agricultural and rural parcels where indoor cultivation is currently more constrained by the existing building date cutoff.
